Good till triggered orders (GTT)

Normal order types like MIS, CNC, SL, SL-M are only valid for a day. If these orders aren't executed today, all the orders will be cancelled. Meaning, if you want an order to remain active until a condition is met, you will have to place order everyday. This is where GTT orders come in. GTT orders remain active until your trigger is met. For example, let's say you bought RELIANCE at Rs 2000 and you set a stop loss at Rs 1500, the GTT order will remain active until the SL level is hit.

Previously I had to create an order everyday until it fulfills the criteria. A repetitive and boring task. GTT came as a time saver. Now only 1 order and my life become easy. It stays there until trigger point reaches. Thanks Zerodha.

I could not understand why do you wanted to buy at a higher price than existing LTP???

For those who are saying buy low... Certain strategies work that way for eg. if the price is at support. Although, 200 from 188 is too much. I would go for 189.

you forgot to inform that CDSL authorisation also needs to be given.
SO basically if you're relying on GTT for your positions you need to give authorisation everyday

Noob question: What is the difference between "trigger price" and "price". The moment the stock touches the trigger price, the stock buy order will be placed for x number of shares, what does the price has to do ? If we can specify which price I want to buy the stock, then what is the need for target price then ?

I do not understand the buy example. Why should I want to buy the stock when it reaches 200 while the LTP is 188? Should I want to buy (set the trigger and price) at below 188, say 186 at least?

Dear Sir/Madam, GTT seems to be a very good feature specially for those retail customers who are working professionals. However, it is understood that the maximum number of GTT Order may not exceed 50 in the order book as per the present limitation. Kindly increase the limit to minimum to 100 for better utilization of the feature. It will be a great help for retail customers. In case the feature may be enabled for the select customers, then the same may also be explored. Expecting early and favorable response.

Hello - I am listening to the One Cancels Other - buy Option. In that pls help me understand, why would I like to buy a stock for Rs.200, when the current price is Rs.188. I might be missing something, but will it not be better to just buy at Current Market Price which in this case is Rs.188

If the trigger order fails then there should be an option to modify or cancel order.

I am curious to know what would sell-OCO GTT do if I don't have the stocks with me as the buy GTT has not yet triggered.
How can we chain the buy and sell-OCI GTT to ensurebuy happens before sell.?

does it sell your position in different orders like what fyers do to maximise brokerage. like if I take 105 lots of banknifty then fyer will sell 105 lots not in one order but in 3-4 order maximising brokerage for them. please confirm for zerodha. thank you
