This song reminds me of me being in the truck with my step-dad, driving down a gravel road on a cold winter morning in Walthall County, Mississippi. I was 14 then. That old man is dead now, and I'm 65 now. But this song still reminds me of that cold day on December 18th, 1967. Lord, how time flies.

I love this song.  It is totally traditional country music.  Horton was real talent that was taken long before he should have been.  He was in the heights of his career when he was killed by a drunk driver.  He had all the talent he needed to make it all the way to the top and to the Hall of fame with the greatest ever.  He was well on his way when his life was taken on the road.

This is what country is all about.  Johnny Horton died long before he should have.  He wrote his own music for the most part, was a fan of Hank sr. had albums of great music.  This song is one that I have not heard in a lot of years.  It brings me back a lot of years.  His music was music that was just great not good but great.
