Car Wash Accident

This video was made with Clipchamp. It shows the Blazer apply its brakes twice in the car wash tunnel causing impacts with the Impala being moved by the conveyor.

I was in one of these wash “tunnels” and felt a bump which lurched me forward. Then the line stopped. Apparently the guy behind me failed to put his truck into neutral and struck my car along with ruining some parts of the car wash. He KNEW he hit me, but drove away. The manager of the car wash came to me with all of this guy’s info (address, phone number, license plate #, plus video of the accident). He was a “member” of this car wash. I filed a police report. His ins co covered the $2000 damage to my car, the damage to the equipment at the car wash, and he was ticketed for hit and run.

I worked in a place with this type of Carwash. They try the cheat the system, to get more dryer time or more soap and do not understand the nuetral requirement until there is a accident. We had an emergency stop inside and outside the station, and used it to stop the carwash when we saw a customer do what this person did. Their response would be, needed more soap or dryer time, Or neutral was not needed and they knew how to drive.

they seem unusually close together as they go in anyway. THought they were supposed to be spaced out more. Like at least two car lengths or more.

I worry about this possibility every time I go through. Sometimes the attendant just keeps waving the next car even though it's way too close to the one in front. If that driver just follows what they're told they could hit the car in front. And then there is the worry that the car in front of me will do something stupid like hit the brakes or put it into park or fail to move out of the way after exiting. This video was my nightmare come true. 😮

I currently work at a car wash, usually there is a stop button right next to the attendant. Either nobody was honking, or dude walked out of tunnel and wasn't paying attention because that's wild that the car wash wasn't at least stopped that entire time lol
