Minecraft: Formatting Books Tutorial

This minecraft tutorial will show you how to format the text inside a book. This means you can add different colors, bold, italic, underline, dash through and other effects to the text in your books. It requires no mods and works in SMP.

Youtube does not allow special symbols in its video descriptions.

Formatting Key
k - Spinning
l - Bold
m - Strikethrough
n - Underline
0 - Italic
r - Reset

Color
0 - Black
1 - Blue
2 - Green
3 - Cyan
4 - Red
5 - Purple
6 - Gold
7 - Light Grey
8 - Grey
9 - Light Blue
a - Lime
b - Aqua
c - Light Red
d - Magenta
e - Yellow
f - White

With an NBT editor i think it uses the same symbol however you aren't able to input it ingame.

I found another video of how to do this on signs and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, but you commented on how it's white and really hard to see and I realized that it actually *was* working and I just couldn't tell, so thank you! You saved me a lot of pain and anguish trying to figure out how to fix a problem that wasn't there, lol XD

Um xisumavoid I found you made a mistake,  §o is italic, not 0, you kept saying zero, yet zero is black :P Just wanted to make a note of that

§ On mac, just hold alt, then press 6.

For Mac users, use Option+6 in Text Edit, then highlight the text and press Command+C, then in Minecraft press *Control*+V. It *MUST* be control in Minecraft itself, Command+V will *NOT* work. Again, Option+6= §

The Alt+21 doesn't work on Mac but you can go in TextEdit and find it in special characters ;) Thanks for this awesome video, I was searching of a complete thing for the formating :D
