Sanders Adviser Matt Duss on Ending Ukraine Crisis & How U.S. Shock Therapy in Russia Enabled Putin

While President Biden has ruled out sending troops into Ukraine, the U.S. is directly aiding Ukraine militarily and has imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia amounting to what some have called "economic warfare." We look at Biden’s response with Senator Bernie Sanders's foreign policy adviser Matt Duss, who is also Ukrainian American. He says the U.S. should continue to exhaust all diplomatic avenues in order to stop violence in Ukraine. Duss also details the U.S. role in setting the stage for Putin's oligarchical government and says the U.S. must not use "Ukranians as a tool for our foreign policy and our conflict with Russia."

“WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.”

I would like to ask Matt Duss to explain who is the Azov battalion that is part of Ukraine army.

It's hard to admit, but yes, the US has been responsible for a great many problems regarding geopolitics, although going forward we should try to prevent these things from happening again.

The US sent hundreds of stinger anti-aircraft. missiles to the. mujahideen in Afghanistan, and many of these weapons were later used, by the Taliban, to shoot down US helicopters.

If we had committed to renewable green energy a decade ago, just think how different the political landscape would look right now. Every gallon of oil is a nail in someone's coffin.

This conflict wont end without NATO acknowledging Russia's security concerns. We continue to evade the real issue

Our anger should be at the US gov’t for escalating and militarizing the situation and then telling us that it’s a madman from Russia. Russia has agency and responsibility for the invasion, but now the US gov’t is whipping up anti-Russia, pro-war nationalism in the US to cover for years of belligerence in Eastern Europe, as if the US has clean hands. And all our belligerence was just a bluff! We’ll enrich our military-industrial corporations by supplying weapons, but beyond that we just stir up crap and then provide weapons to volatile situations. Democrat or Republican, it’s all the same.

“We should use every diplomatic channel we can”…hmm…isn’t one of the major problems…the US and NATO aren’t using the biggest diplomatic tool they have? That is a written guarantee, Ukraine will never be a part of NATO. It’s not difficult if you really have the best interests of the Ukrainians at heart.

In his opinion this didn't mention the NATO and USA disastrous role by not agreeing to Ukraine neutrality.
In the end is the military industrial complex that are responsible.
I hope all their profits during a nuclear winter.

After the numerous lies and betrayals against Senator Sanders, I can’t bring myself to listen to the former First Lady. So sorry. I can’t stomach the sound of her voice or her smug attitude.

Clinton seems to forget that we empowered Osama Bin Laden in fighting the Russians in Afghanistan.

I despise Putin and what he is doing to Ukraine, but you cannot deny that NATO expanding near their borders is what paved the way for this kind of diplomatic crisis to occur.

Who remembers, or has knowledge of the Cuban Missile Crisis ??

October 16-November 20 1962 United States assuming they had outsmarted the Soviet Union by deploying ICBMs in Italy, and Turkey; the Soviet Union countered by deploying ICBMs in Cuba, which to this day is an embarrassment, a defining moment in U.S. national security...

The U.S. government is STILL feeling some kind of way about that incident, which is why America tried to (unsuccessfully) assimilate Ukraine !!

Reminds me of the second US Iraq war. But nobody sanctioned America.

Bernie has a good and sensible advisor. Can he lend Matt Duss to Biden? Bernie can always get him back once he becomes our next President.

According to case studies and research done, there were 117 “partisan electoral interventions” between 1946 and 2000. That’s around one of every nine competitive elections held since Second World War.

The majority of these – almost 70 per cent – were cases of US interference.

And these are not all from the Cold War era; 21 such interventions took place between 1990 and 2000, of which 18 were by the US.

“60 different independent countries have been the targets of such interventions, “The targets came from a large variety of sizes and populations, ranging from small states such as Iceland and Grenada to major powers such as West Germany, India, and Brazil. Lol now ask yourself who's the real aggressor here Putin or the USA? Let me put it in better context for ya the United States has been at war for about 225 of the 243 years since its inception in 1776. so to break it down for ya we basically been at war killing people almost every single yr since U.S. became a country lol that's American imperialism for ya sad

The people who study Russia seem to say Putin is actually popular there, not without critics of course. Our media claims the opposite. What’s true? Also, we’re fueling the conflict, knowing Russia could flatten cities if cornered. Not a word about creating conditions for peace from our gov. We’re helping to cause more suffering in Ukraine, Russia, America, and around the globe. To what end? I’m convinced we could’ve prevented this war but we instead doubled down at every opportunity.
