LMFAO it sounds like the Barracuda was the one who screamed Oh Shit! then can be heard faintly screaming as its being dragged away in the groupers mouth. Hilarious but terrifying at the same time.

I used to dive and I had a grouper pace me in the gloom. The dive master tapped me and I watched him extend his hand and this huge floating pig of a fish came forward. It went right for his outstretched arm and sucked his hand in with a treat. Then released his hand. It was awesome. Afterwards he showed me his arm from under his wetsuit. It was ringed every 3-4 in. With healed teeth marks from his first encounter with the same grouper. Much respect for the fish and dive master.

Could we just step aside from the two hundred pound grouper devouring the barracuda like a slice of pizza and take a moment to reflect on someone diving in the dead of night and how utterly terrifying that is?

I came literally nose to nose with a Grouper in a kelp bed while snorkeling as a teenager. I still shiver when I remember that moment. That was the biggest fish I have ever seen.

Scuba diving at night is creepy as fuck. I did it at night in the Great Barrier Reef while getting my certification. We saw a shark but it was a nursing shark so no danger to people. Frankly I was happy to finish that dive and was really nervous before going in. It's just the thought that you can't see what's coming close and prepare yourself untill it's really close. Fear of the unknown.

I am surprised by the speed. I have tried to take underwater photos of barracudas with a film camera, and the barracuda moved out of my line of sight at the sound of the shutter button being pressed and before the shutter opened. That grouper is seriously fast.

Groupers are a boss fish. Long lived, huge, mostly chill, curious about the world around them. It irritates to no end when you see people land them and given what we know about health these days, the heavy metal build up in the flesh of fish like this makes them dangerous to consume anyway.
