President Trump praises Elon Musk's letter to federal workers

Hundreds of thousands of federal workers have been given little more than 48 hours to explain what they accomplished over the last week, sparking confusion across key agencies as billionaire Elon Musk expands his crusade to slash the size of federal government.

Musk, who serves as President Donald Trump's cost-cutting chief, telegraphed the extraordinary request on his social media network on Saturday.

I have never had a job where I did not have to report either in a notebook in written form or on a managerial log in the computer and occasionally even an email what had happened that day. What I had done about it, if anything was necessary, contact with customers that needed to be dealt with further for whatever reason, special projects, daily or weekly chores that have been completed, you name it.

Musk apparently has access to all systems of government and the technology used within these agencies. His ragtag band of geeks should be able to monitor the activity of any employee on a government device. If the only basis for determining whether someone is working is if they respond to an email, why does he need access to all that other stuff?
