I have been complaining to the Mercedes dealer about this for a year now. To this day, they haven’t been able to provide me with an explanation or solution. They did mention that several of their customers have complained about this issue, and Mercedes was supposed to escalate it to find a solution, but so far, there’s been no response. I will send them this video. Thank you🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Gods teeth - you've done it again! This was niggling me - I almost thought there was a fault with the middle vents. And the different fan speed auto thingy - brilliant. Honest - YOU should be writing the manuals for Merc!

Thank you for explaining this. I knew some, but its great to get a quick and easy tutorial. I didn't realize that turning on heated seats, and steering wheel, doesn't turn on the rear window and mirror's. Maybe Mercedes can add a toggle for that to be automatic. Back in the 90's, I had a neighbor who had a Geo Metro. She could not understand why her car was fogging up. She just bought it, and asked me for help. I told her that the recirc was on, and it was condensate from her own body heat. Turned if off, and instantly the car de-misted. BTW, this weekend we were invited to our dealership to see the first G580e in our city. Quite impressive.

We took our GLB back to the dealership because we thought the blowers weren’t working properly and not de-misting sufficiently! They didn’t tell us any of this just said they couldn’t find anything wrong! 😆
I don’t bother consulting the manual anymore I just watch your videos. So informative - thank you! 😃

This is absolute NEWS to almost everyone as nobody has ever known what happens when you up or down the fan speed while the system remains auto the whole time. Thanks heaps Nick.

My only complaint about the system is that when I hit sync it turns on all 3 rows (5 zones in my GLS) which often I have no one in 3rd row and then I have to go through the menu to just switch off the 3rd row. Also the hey Mercedes doesn’t understand to just turn off 3rd row if I ask, instead it turns off the whole aircon. A first world problem!

Nice, I didn’t know about the different auto fan speed regimes!
One thing concerning the middle air vents: on my EQV, there are three climate modes: normal (which is equivalent to what was described here), diffuse, which will avoid any air directly hitting the body, and focus, which will do the opposite and will also use the middle air vents even when it’s cold and the HVAC is blowing hot air. I use this mode, when I need to warm my hands.

Thanks for the info about the middle vents. I’ve been thinking about taking my car into the dealer to complain that they aren’t working but now I understand you’ve saved me a journey. My car has a button next to the a/c rest showing 3 squiggly arrows around a fan symbol. This is I think the stationary heater but it seems pointless as unless the car is completely cold I would just use the a/c rest for residual heating.
