The Aura Package Manager For Arch Linux

Aura is a package manager for Arch Linux. Its original purpose is as an AUR helper, in that it automates the process of installing packages from the AUR (Arch User Repository). It is, however, capable of much more, including taking snapshots, restoring from those snapshots, and removing orphaned packages.

One of the nice things about NixOS is that snapshots are an implicit property of your install.

I been using aura for well over a year now. Been really good so far. I use aura-bin and compile my own xmonad with stack. I develop in Haskell and avoid the arch Haskell packages just due to size and conflicts.

I have distro-hopped to Arch a number of times -- it's currently happily running on an old netbook. I've always been mightily impressed with the base system, but typically have gotten frustrated because I never found a really good way of dealing with AUR packages. Probably just my laziness. I only a few days ago discovered yay (well: discovered yaourt was dead and THEN discovered yay), and am liking it so far. But aura looks really nice.

A few months back I saw there was an aur helper written in haskell and always wondered why you preferred paru and never talked about aura since you’re rightfully crazy for haskell. I just always thought you liked rust more

PSA: there is an aura-bin package so you font actually need haskall installed.
