Oh look at that! You had the rear seats down. Now it’s a CX70!!!

This is actually really impressive, what you get for 50k, a premium 3 row SUV, with great comfort and driving dynamics. Heated and cooled seats, instead of a turbo 4 cylinder, you get a buttery smooth Inline 6. These are things that something like a BMW X5 offers for like 30k more.

Hey Topher!

I remember reading something about the starter motor situation a while back. Apparently it's not good for the health of the high voltage battery to provide a ton of power when it's cold, especially in cold climates like yours and mine in Michigan and Minnesota, so the traditional starter motor was added to preserve the life and health of the hybrid battery

I just bought a blue one two weeks ago I absolutely love it never imagined owning a Mazda like this one.

after driving my CX90 MHEV, equivalent to PP, I'd say I always fall in love each day.
The handling and the rear biased drive is really a good experience.
It was a love at first sight last year, but waited for a bit for them to iron out some issues, then finally got it. I'd say, I'm so happy.

Same mistake made by almost every reviewer. You can indeed use the touchscreen with CarPlay or Android Auto while the car is in motion, it’s a checkbox setting disabled by default and hidden inside of the Communications category.

Man that inline 6 sounded so good when you were winding it out, I love the sound of their sky ativ engines, they did good with the mazda 3 but this is sounds way nicer im impressed

Thanks for reviewing the base engine. It's hard to find reviews of it

0:40, not 55k, prices dropped by up to $4000 since he recorded this video
The pricing in the topher's description is correct for this premium plus (under 50 before destination)

Love the addition of the quick watch review! That speedmaster of yours in black leather strap looks awesome too

Current cx9 leasee here. This interior has similar but updated vibes... Very nice. Glad to hear the transmission issues may have been addressed. All that said, this is a first year of a new engine, new platform, new tech Suv. This is 100% Lease Only until they can prove its reliability. We've had some odd issues with our CX-9 that Mazda took care of under warranty, but not sure I would trust it long-term without a warranty.

Anyone who says this isn't an impressive car in its segment is coping. Mazda is killing it these days.

The drive blew me away. It felt so premium and sporty .

Thank you very much for driving this mid-level trim. Other reviews only do the top trim with the more powerful engine. This trim is what I’m interested in because of the reasonable price.

Very nice. If you’re someone who is planning on keeping this over 100, 000 miles please due your due diligence and check what service requires the engine to be removed from the subframe….

It's crazy how long all Mazda's crank until they start. I thought it was just me when I had a '14 CX-5 but my buddy has an '18 CX-3 with the same behavior. The comment made around 8:50 confirms it's a normal thing. Then there's my ole '17 Kia Sorento that can be sat for weeks, low on burnt oil, still running original battery + sparks from 85k miles ago and still turn over instantly.

I agree with the seatbelt chime, it is annoying. My parents have a CX-50 and it annoyed them to the point they bought seatbelt extenders so it would shut up the seatbelt chime, problem solved.😎 Just don't forget to put your seatbelt on of course.

If Mazda puts the same powertrain in the Mazda 6, that would be a very good car.

I love the direction Mazda is going and hope people finally give Mazda their due and start buying their vehicles over the mundane versions of others. We'll see if these prove to be reliable, but considering how well their reliability ranking are now, it would be a good assumption that they'll if anything stay the same. That inline 6 sounds awesomely refined and the cabin quiet. A great alternative to the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLB and even better then the other Japanese, Korean and American competitors. Mazda is moving up in the game and deservedly so ✌🏾❤️
