Musk's actions are illegal. The federal civil service is governed by laws put in place by Congress starting in the late nineteenth century designed to create a nonpartisan workforce that would be insulated from political manipulation and corruption. Worker performance is judged by the appropriate supervisors and assessments are made in a formal review process. Folks cheering this are the usual cultists who don't bother to inform themselves. This can only happen because the GOP Congress has chosen not just to avert their eyes but lie face down in a ditch as Trump and Musk march over the Constitutional separation of powers and the legislation that Congress itself has enacted. Reports already also suggest Musk's email - sent over an unclassified system to everyone on the federal payroll - may have blown the cover of their undercover agents. Trump, Musk, and their Congressional lackeys are endangering the US economy and national security.
