I know for russian language, participles aren't used in daily conversations. They are for written form, literature texts.

mokantį (google translates as) teaching...
ok
be = without
si = reflexive for self in verbs thing... ok so
besimokanti = without teaching for myself... ? No it just means learning right?

is there some element of 'self-learning' to this besimokanti above mokymasis?

English pronunciation is such a pita because there are so many irregularities. That said, you're pronouncing "participle" as if it's similar to "participate", par _ti_ ci pate, when the primary and secondary emphasis should be _par_ ti _ci_ ple, like "party" but "parti" (or maybe more like "par tuh") then _ci_ ple.
