I felt something was different with me since I was 13. I tried out a few labels over the years, from genderfluid, nonbinary, trans man, and finally settled on nonbinary transmasculine. Through the 5 years after realizing that that i was in school, I received no support from the most important people in my life. The family I lived with tried to tell me it was all in my head, I was following trends to fit it, etc etc.

After I moved out at 18, I changed my name, came out to the rest of my family, who surprised me with their overwhelming support, and started living as myself.

Now, 3 years after I came out, im 21 years old, and I have my first testosterone appointment tomorrow!! Life before coming out was the worst hell to go through. Life after coming out has been better. But ive still felt icky about my living situation. Im beyond excited to get my first prescription and start living in the body im supposed to be in!!!

Lets fill these comments with more positive stories, and beat out the transphobes!!! 💞 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 💞

Omg yeah this is literally so crazy, and as a trans teen, I'm really nervous about what my future is gonna look like because of those kinds of politicians

Why are people in the comments not understanding that this doesn’t happen Willy nilly? This only happens when the doctor, parents, AND child all agree that this is the course of action that needs to be taken right now. It could be for a mental health risk, a health risk, anything. Minors getting gender affirming medical care (which is never surgery by the way, at least not legally) is a rare occurrence that only happens under very specific circumstances or life or death. This isn’t saying “all trans minors should go be on hormones and get surgery, ” it’s saying that minors who desperately need medical intervention to continue to live can have access to it. It’s rare, very rare, but it happens.

i can’t believe the amount of ridiculous hate this video is getting, where do these conservatives come from and attack these poor kids and doctors? let me ask you something: do you have a child with gender dysphoria? no. then you will NEVER understand why gender affirming care is so important, and that means YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE IT AWAY.

As a new mother living in ohio i will let my child make those choices for themselves. Just because they were born female doesnt mean they feel female.

I really don't think people are understanding that gender affirming care is not just surgery, and surgery is very rarely recommended to people under 18, and if it is, it's usually to someone who's nearly an adult. Gender affirming care can be a name change, pronoun change, sometimes hormone blockers, or therapy for dysphoria. It's small things that make trans people more comfortable, and it is neither your or the law's business.

Gender affirming care is healthcare. Gender affirming care saves lives. It's saved mine. People need to accept that trans people have always existed and always will, and they need to accept us into society because we're not going anywhere 🏳️‍⚧️

I’m sorry there’s all this hate. You never said surgery but people have that mentality. Gender affirming care can be as small as name changes or pronoun changes. It can also just be hormone blockers. Decades of studies prove that they have little negative effect. Support our kids
Edit: For the “leave our kids alone” What if the child is intersex? Parents make the decision constantly to get surgery for their infant child to make them male or female. And circumcision? That’s a MAJOR irreversible surgery. On a child who can’t even make sounds beyond crying. I just really think you need to look at everything

How the heck did all of these conservatives end up on this video?

I just needed somewhere to say this but to Ohio lawmakers, just leave us alone, we’re children, the only thing that we’re hurting is probably your ego, and the fact that you feel threatened by children is just, beyond me

Fun fact/ gender affirming health care isnt just surgery. Its also a lot of smaller things. Hormone blockers. Hrt. Etc. also. Not just trans people use this healthcare. A lot of cis people use it as well. Possibly more than trans folks.
Fun fact #2/ usually when it comes to children being put on hormone blockers or hrt (usually up in that teenage-almost adult range with "kids") the parents, child, and doctor all work to come to a decision that would benefit and be alright with everyone. Which includes making sure the patient is in good health for these things, its affordable for the parents, and any negative effects that MAY come about.
Fun fact #3/ By taking this type of healthcare away- you potentially risk the lives of many. Whether it be to physical or mental health.
Fun fact #4/ if u honestly think u have any right to dictate the lives of other people who arent causing any harm to anyone, your a threat to the people's wellbeing.
Fun fact #5/ respecting a name someone would rather go by or what they wanna be referred to as isnt that hard. While it may understandably take a bit to get used to. And i can completely understand subconsciously referring to some more feminine with she/her vice versa. If u genuinely try it is not that difficult. I got teachers who have over a hundred kids in their classes all together. Yet after a month or so they remember what everyone goes by. Whether it be a nickname or preferred name. If they can get down over one hundred names, nicknames, and preferred names, in a month and start actively remembering for the next 9 months. Then yall can remember that someone goes by something else in the same amount of time. And if u mess up usually we dont care much as long as you correct yourself or arent doing it intentionally

Hormone therapy is necessary sometimes y’all. And if it isn’t, it’s not going to harm kids. It’s the blocking of hormones. I feel if someone wants to make a choice, it’s there’s to make

Leave us alone! We need care, same as everyone else! We're kids for god's sake?

This comment section scares me. Y‘all are acting as if trans people had decided to be trans.
