Agree with most but especially incorporating vintage or antiques and finding the right balance. So many designers are taking this look all the way. It looks dark and old and the eye has no where to go. I like the lightness of modern with just a couple of vintage pieces. It then looks intentional and interesting.

Nickel and 1920s chrome is gorgeous. Keep doing matte and polished copper but also leave the old time chrome for me :)

As always, I loved your video. Absolutely, no epoxy flooring and no shiny fake gold fixtures!

Darling Design Daddy - totally agree that we need more round and curve in our square and rectangle dominated spaces!

Bedrooms are always a series of boxes, much like a warehouse. The easiest way to introduce curves and interest is in curved bedside tables. (oval, half-moon, ameba, etc.) And how are you going to scrape your leg on a round table at night?

I am a fan of using antiques and vintage as long as the pieces are not too fussy and the overall space isn’t cluttered. I agree with other comments that mixing in modern art and accessories is key to an updated look. Window treatments also need to be in current styles.

Great video DD, And I must admit I LOVE my walk in pantry even though when I was renoing my kitchen (sometime in the previous century . . .) everyone was telling me no, it's oldfashioned, off trend, I'd be sorry etc . . . and I'm very happy to say has never had a wire shelving unit in it . . . One thing I'd like to see is a video on how to incorporate vintage and thrifted in a contemporary way. Due to economics at the time, I have ended up with a lot of vintage and antique furniture and they do look great and suit my 100ish y/o house sometimes it feels like I'm in a museum . . .

Oh my, those first foyer floors 🥰🥰 Those epoxy nightmares, though, are just a broken hip or two waiting to happen. So many great points in here; fab video as always, DD 😀

I'm probably the only person here that feels this way, but I really dislike every single one of those light fixtures. I think they'd get tiresome pretty quickly, and look really dated, and frankly, they look cheap even if they cost a small fortune. Totally agree about the epoxy floors, and the polished gold fixtures. I'm not a huge fan of the curved corners shown, slightly rounded corners can look good, though. But those big curves remind me of parking garages. Still, a very interesting video!

I'm glad that you include Smart Home aspect to the trend in home design because most designers videos that I saw seldom (almost never) talked about this. When this is actually an inevitable part to incorporating a modern home. I mean aesthetics are one thing but we also cannot escape the fact that technology is fast becoming a part of our psyche even in our homes.

Thank you for calling out polished gold! Ugh, I've always felt that it just screams TACKY! Love the heavy metals you featured.

I particularly prefer my kitchen to be semi independent or another room, I have never been so into open plan, I know American and Australians love it but nothing like a big semi independent kitchen that opens to a garden.

I love your wisdom on Interior Design. I am planning to renovate my small Condo. My fear is I don't think I can afford your service. Common sense is rare nowadays. But I see that you have a lot of common sense, a primary requirement for TIMELESS Interior Design.

Totally onboard with all of your don’ts, especially the commercial pottery with words (anything with words, really) and super glossy anything. Love your videos!

You showed the Emtek front door keypad. I have the Emtek and love it. You don't use your phone. It uses either a key or battery. If the battery dies, then use your key. You can program multiple codes and delete codes when you want to stop access. The Emtek is fantastic.

Thanks for this video. Confession: I have one Rae Dunn piece, a mug with "Balance" on it. It has been a good reminder for me as I go about life. 😊
