Snowboard Kids - Nintendo 64 Review - HD

Snowboard Kids is a snowboarding video game for the Nintendo 64. It was developed by Racdym and published by Atlus. Many reviewers compared its style to that of the Mario Kart series. An enhanced port, Snowboard Kids Plus, was released in Japan in January 1999 for the PlayStation.

I'll tell you what I think:
I think this game needs a 3DS or WiiU Remastery. This game was my childhood and simply seeing this online kicked up a whole mess of nostalgia.

I remembered borrowing this game from a friend back in high school. I literally played the living shit out of it. It's without a doubt, very fun to play.

An enhanced version called Snowboard Kids Plus was a Japan exclusive on the PS1.

This and Snowboard Kids 2 were two of the games that I would rent repeatedly at Blockbuster. I’m not sure why I never bought it—I guess I was too young and always just played what my older brother bought but my sister and I loved these games so much.

I loved that one! Actually preferred it over Mario Kart. The music and atmosphere was awesome and the game a lot of fun. Rented it over and over again in my local video shop until the N64 was old and they sold the game…. to me! :D

Since the day of its release from the box in my house and putting it into the n64 snowboard kids still remains as 1 of my most loved racing games in gaming history.

The music is exceptionally outstanding as it provides a unique atmosphere with its trance like tunes. The characters standout from each other including the unlockable Shinobin, who by the way has some awesome looking boards.

I really love the menu music when you buy a board, or when deciding whether to play a skill game, time trial, or just race.

I have always called Tommy burger boy haha

Linda must be freezing with just a bra, but Jam is my all time favouroute character.

And all the kids have big round long stick noses too haha

My cousins brought this game with them when they visited me and I loved it from the get-go (after the little learning curve). My only disappointment was the fact that it requires a memory card and I didn't need any on my SNES and also not for the N64 so far, so I couldn't save my progress. It was not an easy game to find for my collection, and I still love it! The night-time stage is my favorite. The PSX has an updated version with much better music, called Snowboard kids plus, released only in Japan.

I don't quite remember if I had this, my cousin had it or we rented if from blockbuster. All I do remember is how awesome it was. That hustling at the bottom of each stage to go back to the top was priceless.

Another great review, Glenn. Reminded me of a game I had forgotten. Finally picked up this game and gave it a proper playthru! I have fond memories of renting it several times and playing it at a friend's house as well. Very fun, very challenging. I haven't felt like smashing my controller so bad in years! Finally beating Shinobin felt like a achievement. Now I can move on to snowboard kids 2

you can eventually start using all the players for various situations. When I started, I usually played as Slash, the well-balanced player, but as I learned the courses and the controls, I eventually learned to use the harder characters on the more difficult levels. The soundtrack is probably one of the best for the console. Esp. Quicksand Valley. The map types also vary somewhat and make the gameplay feel refreshing even if it is just more of the same. I think this game series should have a new title exclusive to Nintendo Switch. Something under the working title, "Snowboard Kids 3" or "Snowboard Kids 4" (if you count the DS game). And because it now belongs to Sega, I would think they could have Sonic be an unlockable character.

In the summer of 1998 i was 13 and i was grounded for 2 weeks of the 6 weeks holiday, my mate lent me this game and it got me through the pain of been stuck inside while all my mates were out having a blast. i just rediscovered it today, its such a fun game, plus, the music is excellent and catchy!

I remember playing this many many years ago. Can't remember if we rented it, or if it was at a friend's house. We never owned it though. Looks pretty fun, so I'll certainly buy a copy sooner or later.

Might have to download that OST in the meantime...
