I bought 4 boxcars from Menards. 2 of them had broken trucks. They broke off at the base of the boxcar. It didn't break from shipping, it had to be from the factory. Menards sent me a pre-paid shipping label. I got 2 new boxcars after they got the boxcars back. Trainz, I only had one problem. I bought a postwar steam engine 2025. They said the smoke unit worked. When I received the engine. There was no smoke element inside. I contacted them, they said they would look into it. Never answered back

It all depends on what you're looking for. As you pointed out Bob Trainz is a good source for used low-priced, low-demand articles tailor-made for repaint and customizing projects. Menards are inexpensive and I've got it on good authority the Menards rolling stock is being produced with old Williams tooling so the quality base is there. The only thing Menards is lacking are passenger cars. Interesting video!

I’ve grown very tired of the out of box problems with Menards especially like you mentioned the uncoupling issue. I was excited a few years ago about the Menards locomotives but how cheaply they are made ended that very fast. The new CNW Menards locomotive with the unrealistic huge logo and text along with the cheesy horn and bell will keep them out of my train room. For young kids and folks on a budget they do have a lot to offer though. Great video as always Bob.! 👍🏻

Gotta go with Trainz. Personally new to me is just new enough so long as the price is right and the majority of my trains are secondhand. I must say Menards makes some fine looking products and those new O72 switches look tempting especially once they work out all the kinks.

Dang, I miss Kline...Trainz is OK. You can find old trains from many manufactures. I collect some Marklin and have found a few great models from the 1950's for very good prices. I have never been to Menard's, but a friend of mine has and loves their buildings. Thanks for the video!

Trainz sometimes has stuff that aren’t in great shape. Like ranging from the box to the car or locomotive itself. Menards definitely wins I think Bob.

I don’t see how you can compare the two, Both serve very different defined purposes. Trains deals with used and Menards is New China.Trainz could do better with customer service as you can’t speak to a human, but they honor what they sell and will refund if you want if you pay shipping in worst case, and they pay shipping if it was not as described or defective. Menards has great graphics but not known for quality. They are however a good value for the money. I like both as to me they serve completely different purposes.

I will NEVER buy anything more from Trainz. They ripped me off on a broken (new in box) Williams diesel & refused to replace it. NEVER AGAIN !!!
