Yes yes but a very important thing from asch's experiment: if one planted person claims that the lines are the same, it breaks the effect for like 90% of the people.

So this really shows that sometimes one person that speaks up is enough to break the hive mind

This is not how the experiment worked, they had to match a line with the one of the three options that was the same length as that one. The actors gave the correct answer a few times but then they started giving the wrong answers to determine how this would influence the other person in the experiment. Most people said the obviously incorrect answers just to conform.

Even better, it wasn't an optical illusion. One line was CLEARLY shorter/taller than the other. And still so many people went with what others chose

if you don't know the answer to something, just go with the majority. That's not 'caving' unless they are confident that the lines were the same length - but the question implies they are not the same length.
