It took me weeks to figure out how to install Windows on my PC. A lot of the troubleshoot videos on Youtube didn't work for me. I was lucky enough to solve this issue thanks to a post on a forum.

This process included installing Window set up installer files onto my external hard drive from a different computer/laptop. I believe the flash drive or hard drive needs to be formatted as MS-DOS in order for it to be readable. Then I copied the installation files onto my SDD with command prompt and diskpart. I turned off my computer and unplugged my hard drive. I turned my pc back on and it automatically boots to Windows installer. I continue with the installation process to completion without failing at 90%. I restart my computer but my PC is booted back to the Windows installer again. I use Diskpart to format the small partition that was created earlier. I restart my computer again and my PC no longer boots back to the same Windows installation process, but boots to the final steps in setting up Windows.

The forum post that helped me fix this issue:

How to set up new partition

omg i was so frustrated and I almost returned my motherboard. I thought it was hardware issues, switched ram slots, individuals rams, swapped out graphics cards and even all the storage. Its making me crazy. I am so lucky to find your video, and I am really grateful that you addressed the issues and uploading it to youtube. If not for you, I almost ended up returning all my parts!!!

I have a question if anyone could help! I followed the instructions up until the 1:21 second mark at that part it began confusing me. I have several sensitive drives on my computer i don't want altered, I only want Windows installed on Disk 1 (the disk I formatted following the instructions so far). What is happening passed the 1:21 second mark and will it effect my other disks or only disk 1?

This is how I fixed the problem: in my case I was coming out of Linux back to Windows 10, I unplugged my windows 10 flash drive, then I deleted every partition connected to Linux, reinstalled my PC (I plugged the windows 10 flash drive back on) and followed with the installation process again and it worked!

D: drive dissapears after the second logical disk step? Doesn't let me copy the files then?

When I type "wmic logicaldisk get caption, " c:, d:, and x: show up.

But when enter "wmic logicaldisk where drivetype=3 get deviceid, volumeid, " only c: and x: show up.

When I do "xcopy: c: d: /e /h /k, " it says File creation error - The parameter is incorrect. Unable to create directory - D:\. 0 File(s) copied.

When I try "xcopy: c: /e /h /k, " I get cannot perform a cyclic copy.

Thank you for this post! This got my Windows to install! The only thing I did differently was bootsect /nt60 (drive name) /mbr (instead of GPT). Not sure why that worked but it did!

I'm able to copy all the installation files from the USB to my SSD, but I can never get it to boot on the SSD; it shows the screen saying that there is no recognized boot device

I was able to boot using all the step on a macbook pro 2011. my problem now is an error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. I having a SSD on disk 0 where macos high sierra was installed and made a partition (EX-FAT) so I can install Windows 10. But unfortunately that said error is not allowing me to continue the windows installation. Any thoughts, suggestions> Thanks!!
