Fascinating history!
First I've ever heard of Heron.
Now I have something to research in my spare time.
Thank you again.

Yup anyone who knows anything knows Hero. There was an ancient greek temple that had self opening doors powered by hydraulics or steam.

I had never heard of this man. Thank you for the education!😁

It almost seems like he was a man removed from a time in which his work seemed normal only to be restricted/limited by the current technology available to him.

Ideas manifest themselves without prejudice or concern for when, were, or by what mind they enter as long as they are birthed is all that matters, and they continue to develop in the minds of the creative one after another as long as it takes until they are put into use and practice by design.

This would also be the first example of what later became the turbine engine.

His parents must have known what a Chad he'd be to have given him such a strong name.

Slowly but surely we are erasing the view that the ancients were folks without technology or inventiveness. Have you covered Archimedes and his terrifying war machines? Another genius!

Maybe it was a title more than a single man like "Royal Inventor" and was held by several people causing the timeline confusion.

I don't think we've given due credit to the ancestors.... Thanks ⚡⚡

Didn't the ancient Chinese have a similar machine?

Reinventions from knowledge passed down from previous civilizations.
As we know so much knowledge and information has been lost or hidden from from us therefore one must keep an open mind and believe all is possible especially since such designs are in India, carved in stone on their temples and not a cartoon drawing so in all honesty no one today knows who invented what.
