Ship Parts Needed! | STFC needs to more D'Vort Parts, Franklin, Disco, etc.! | Player Requests

In STFC @everyone needs the specialty ships. The D'Vor, the Vi'Dar, the Franklin, Discovery, etc. etc. You simply can't be a top competing player for your level and not have them in your arsenal, and for the newer players in the game they really have to become the primary focus. Yet, the ability to upgrade many of these ships is greatly hindered by the parts needed specifically for each.

Topics covered:

1. Going over the methods for acquiring ship parts
2. Why STFC needs better sourcing for ship parts for the D'Vor, Franklin, Discovery, etc.
3. Hunting OPC Swarm Cargo?
4. If you have any game mechanic questions, feel free to drop those questions in the comments!

I agree whole-heartedly! Once upon a time there were few specialty ships and plenty of time to grind everything out. Now there's so much to do, it can't all be done... unless... you pay to get it done. I suddenly feel like I understand why scopely doesn't change this...

I just want an event that lets us trade in old unused event items/tokens for something useable.

Totally agree! Cosmic cleanup battle debris is an RNG joke. There needs to be better sourcing for these ships.

I think a decent enough argument could be made that ALL forms of sourcing (ship parts, mats, etc...) could stand to have the decimal place moved to the right by 1 digit...

As long as folks keep buying the packs to upgrade these ships Scopely has no reason to give better sourcing. If you get people to stop spending cash for it then maybe they will do something.

Specialty ship parts have always been an incredible pain point along with the uncommon requirements to upgrade ships. It's getting to the point where it's clear Scopely has put in these walls deliberately to incentivize buying packs. That's why - curmudgeon and pessimist that I am - I doubt they'll ever actually change anything about the requirements for these ships.

Ideally, there should be a grindable option just like for the Franklin - i.e. a set of systems where you can grind the parts out, e.g. the mycelium system hostiles drop spore drive parts; latinum system hostiles drop d'vor parts, etc. Still keeps the carrot of just buying a pack to accelerate yet still makes it clear that you can grind out a specialty ship in x amount of months - never to exceed 6 for the average player.

Related to that, you could update the dailies to include rewards that contain those speciality parts as well just like the Franklin. The Franklin isn't a terrible model to follow; yes the prices may be high but at least it's not a complete wall or insurmountable obstacle that maxing the D'Vor (especially) and the Discovery seems to be.

The other option is that Scopely could reduce the costs needed by a factor across all tiers so players don't need that many.

And no shame here; I'm Ops 39 and my Discovery is one part away from T8.

With ships like the Franklin if you want to level it up faster? Easy, just go grind more frequency modulators. Done. The problem with the D'Vor is there is no way to "grind it out faster" but you are limited by the paltry refines which average under 1000 per day.

100% agree and we talk about in alliance chat all the time that DVorr parts for the LB is dumb because it creates a snowball.

Great points. I've had the dvor for about 2 years, and I'm STILL about 30 days away from tier 9 because I've never had a reason to get parts in event stores. When the feesha released I was stuck in limbo where continuing to t9 was only slightly less time than starting a new dvor to scrap several. It's crazy, and very discouraging.

Some research that improves parts efficiency would go a long way. For the specialty ships, in particular. Adding some components to the 7-day chest might help encourage play while speeding up that grind for newer players as well.

Before Franklin-A was a thing, S12 had a Frequency Modular arrangement where players would do their dailies and then let someone else take their FM cargo since they couldn't do anything with them anymore. Now that the Franklin-A exists and there is a refinery, that service has gone away and smaller players are back to grinding.

In my experience, doing your swarm dailies consistently has always provided me with enough frequency modulators. My Franklin naturally grew stronger as the dailies requirement increased. I could always do them in less than 2 hulls, most of the time in less than one. The same is happening with the Franklin-A. And I think it makes sense, the game is designed to reward you for login in every day.

@RevDuece…
First kudos on your new intro sequence, I dig it!
Second I feel that all specialty ships need a refinery option. It blows my mind that the swarm minerals can’t be redeemed for more FreqMods. Then the chests for the Vidar needs to be fixed, the 2 chest options gives twice the single chest and that tracks but it costs 5 times the value…I mean seriously.
Third the Rogue faction store needs help because the cool down rate means even if you grind daily and do the eclipse armadas religiously you have to wait 3 days for most chests to unlock…uncool.
I mean cool downs longer than 8-12 hours are almost a punishment, because if you are putting in the work you should be able to make pulls frequently and in my opinion 2-3 times a day but no longer than daily. Too many functions hold us ransom against a clock, I would put in far more game time to keep grinding if I didn’t have to wait 3 days for Rouge and 7 days for Epic Armada chests.

Before the frank-a, higher level players with maxed franks would often let small players hit their filled up franks, giving away the loot they had no use for

Agree 100% Rev, that's all I have to say, you said it all.

Speaking of events that need updating - Faction Hunt. For how many ships you have to destroy to get the top tier rewards you really get very little return for your investment. I usually skip one or two of the factions from boredom after a while. Now that I'm venturing into DS it is a bit easier hitting faction hostiles and closing things out pretty quick but when I was a 34 -35 it was laborious grind.

I fully agree, I am a F2P and its a pain to have to wait for Cosmic Clean Ups and turn those in for only 1/10th of the BPs needed for the Franklin and Discovery. They should really consider alternatives to earning more BPs for Franklin and Discovery. D'Vor I am fine with since you get them on monthlies and the recent RoA events gave me enough BPs for it but part sourcing as well needs to be better.

Dam it Rev, you’ve read my mind. Scopely needs to increase all these parts. Make the fans happy. And don’t forget Scopely to increase uncommon crystal ore and gas drops from 10-30 per 75k refine to ATLEAST 100 per pull. This would be and will be game changing and make us fans happy as f ✌️

Two ideas:
1) They should add the parts for these ships to ATA missions.
2) D’vor and Feesha parts should be added to the SMS milestone of Latinum Rush instead of the SLB.

It took me over 18 months to max my first dvor, and I refined EVERY day. Also I only maxed my disco last week, and I'm ops 41! Maxing franklin was a massive grind, but the efficiency research did help out big time to reduce the FM requirements.
