Since it’s being held upside down by Arin in both Thunderfang and the Storm Jet, my first impression was that the piece might be being used to represent a beaker or glass bottle of some kind, containing a yellow substance (perhaps dragon core energy like you said?)

One idea I had was this could be some kind of elemental energy absorber, and maybe Arin will use this crystal to absorb and steal the ninjas powers. 💛

My best guess, since it's likely season 3 will revisit the first realm, i think it's a powerful artifact of dragon energy possibly from an extraordinarily powerful dragon, maybe even yes, source dragon energy, then it would make sense why ras would want it, and arin is warming up to the idea of strength, so it would make sense why he would get an item of great power.

I think that in season 3 we will see Arin training with Lord Ras to master his ability to transfer object spinjitzu and maybe this jewel will be the weapon Arin will use to fight with this ability by transfering spinjitzu to it and throwing it to enemies.
