Today, I made omelet with Natto (fermented soybeans). This is not a typical Japanese dish that you hear outside of Japan, but there are over 1000 restaurants in Japan that serve this dish.

Natto is popular in the eastern regions of Japan. Natto has powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky, slimy texture, so this recipe is only for Natto lovers.

This is very nice with a bowl of rice. My kids love it!

We don't usually cook/heat Natto. The typical way of eating Natto is just simply putting on the rice, mixed with the included soy sauce, Japanese leek (Naganegi) and Japanese mustard (Karashi). However, there are so many ways to enjoy Natto like Natto Fried Rice, Natto Pizza, Natto Miso Soup etc.

Thank you for sharing this Omelet with Fermented Soybeans (Natto). You've made it look so simple and good. One of these days, I sure will try to cook this dish sans the juno sauce which I don't know where to get it here in Atlanta, GA, USA. For me, I reckon a simple Chinese soy sauce is more than sufficient. Cheers.

I've only recently heard of natto. I've become interested in some Japanese/English VTubers, and several of them enjoy natto.

This looks pretty good. I may have to gather the ingredients and give this a try. There's quite a bit that unfamiliar with eating in this recipe.

I really like the way natto tastes but the sticky texture was very difficult for me to handle. I am going to try to make this natto omelette for my breakfast tomorrow and see if it is easier for me to eat. I want to eat natto because I think it is good for me! Thank you 🙏🏼

I was so nervous to try natto for the first time because of how it was always described as so smelly and slimy. I personally didn’t find it so smelly or strong tasting! Maybe I like strong flavored foods? The texture is definitely slimy. But hey I like that, too. My fav way to eat natto is white rice, natto, fried egg, and homemade kimchi.

I recently tried Natto. I bought three different brands at our local international food store. I've tried them all and they're pretty good. I've tried eating them several different ways as well. One thing I don't understand. Everyone says it has a strong smell and taste. I take mine out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator for a few days to let it thaw out. To me, it never has a strong smell or taste. Am I doing something wrong with it?

I tried natto for the first time and tbh it’s okay. People act like it’s hella nasty like century eggs.

How to make natto? I boiled and put for some days but there's no stickiness. I added a little milk kefir into it while fermenting I thought it will help but it didn't.

Wouldn't you kill the good bacteria if you cook the natto as part of the omelet or in a soup?
