I wonder if Queen was honoring the aria when he wrote that song.

obviously not a coincidence you have to take in consideration that Freddy was a massive opera fan ense his work with Montserrat Caballe.

Well, if you look even further back, you would find yet another "borrowing" of this chorus bit from Paglicci, it's a song from the 1970's, 1971, to be exact, by pop singer, who coincidentally has also borrowed a name from the ancient operatic world, Engelbert Humperdinck, "When There's No You". The quotation was even more blatent, using an even longer segment, containing more measures (or bars, depending on which side of the Atlantic are you on) of music was directly grabbed from this chorus of "Ridi, Pagliacci" from Leoncavallo's Opera "I Paglicci". The lyrics goes, "My heart is breaking, it was yours for the taking, you said we're through, what can I do, when there's no you? " Just try singing those words into the melody from the bit "Ridi, paglicco, sul tu amore infranto..." You will be amazed at the rude infringement of musical idea with no shame...

Take a listen yourselves. Here is the link to his song:

Also, apart from Engelbert, another pop singer called Malcom Roberts, also had the exact same song released in the same year. The link of which is below:

Look up “tell me you love me” by the ink spots. It also borrows the melody

often in music you find that you heard some part in an older song and that part comes from an even older song and I believe you could easily get from some recent pop banger to some middle ages music this way xd

Freddie era fan de la opera, pudo ser casualidad o honro la canción.

Not fair comparing live vs recording and processed

Si Queen hubiera seguido cantando esta fabulosa canción hubiera sido un éxito rotundo ya que su voz daba con la talla que pena que no lo considero😕

An INFANTILE and nonsensical comparison 🤦‍♂️ Entirely different genres that cannot and should not be compared ! Bel Canto technique is over 600 bloody years old !
