London Snatcher Knot

I saw a news article where thieves were snatching phones out of peoples hands while on motorbikes. This is a simple lanyard you can make for your phone also including a safety break.

A general observation, if you are talking on your cell while walking, you are already unsafe! If you need to be on your phone, stop somewhere where you can be more aware of you situation. (Potholes, curbs, railings, grates, crosswalks, etc., etc., can all ruin your day as well.)

Madness. The thief will drag the victim along the road.

Love the magic you display with rope and cord. I have several pieces of line at my desk I play/practice with daily. I received the marlin spike with turks head and keep at my desk. I don't really have a use for the gravity hook but it is so well made and articulates with such precision it's just a fun fidget. But the anchor is favorite hanging from my keychain. A daily fidget made with such precision. Thanks.

The American version is a little easier to utilize and also has the ability to cover a great distance very fast. About 1400mph.

Personally, I would use a Bluetooth earpiece with a microphone and keep the phone out of sight in my pocket. You can answer calls easily by pressing a small button on the earphone. You can also get a watch which will connect to your phone by Bluetooth to allow calling and answering your phone. The paracord idea is great if you don't have another alternative.

This is great advertisement for simply using earbuds when on a call.

Super scary though cuz the worst part of getting your phone snatched while on a call is that it's unlocked.

THIS is what we’ve all been waiting for. An everyday knot for an everyday situation.

Wonderful demonstration video. Diamond knot is also known as the lanyard knot. 😊

Using parts from a few of your videos, I have already done this good enough for me, but for a video idea, here goes. When camping in my motorhome, I make a dog run out of paracord. The place I anchor to the motorhome is pretty high up, so the first issue to solve is how to tie it up high but make easy to undo without a ladder. Secondly, whatever I tie the other end to, typically not quite as high up but don’t want to hang people either. Third is how to connect it to the dog, I like to use the dog leash I already have that locks and retracts. The whole thing works great, she is very limited to width by the length of the leash, oh and I failed to mention I use a small metal pulley thing with an eyelet so she can go quite a long way along that pulley. Anyway, love the channel, no clue how popular it may be, but thought I’d suggest it.

It’s sad that this is even needed. London is awful I’ve just left there after living there for over three and a half decades. We all know the reason for its decline but aren’t allowed to speak of it otherwise we will literally get thrown in prison.

I wonder when you will get round to demonstrating the modern equivalent of the chastity belt ... the snatch knot :<)

A knot I like to provide a breakaway:
Using a small tube, such as a pen barrel, place a fold of the shorter end of the cord along its length.
Taking the opposite end, lay it along the pen in the opposite direction and make 5 turns back along the pen (around all three ends).
Finally, pass the tip of the second end up through the centre of the knot, using the tube as a guide - either by pushing it up through the tube or follow the tube as you draw it out, like using a fid.

The second end makes a "grinner" knot (quintuple overhand) around the bight of the first, which grips it firmly, but the bight slides out cleanly under tension without catching any bulk from sealing the end.

To my knowledge, the preeceeding knot doesn't have a name but I humbly suggest the "half-double grinner" after the related bend (the double-grinner sometimes used by fishermen).

I seem to remember reading that each of the 7 strands in 550 paracord carry 75lbs, leaving 25 lbs for the outer jacket... something like that.

An American friend of mine in Amsterdam told me how he left America for good after seeing someone try to snatch a woman's gold necklace and drag her down the street, breaking her neck. A lanyard would do exactly the same thing. Just saying.
