I tried this project, however I don't have a table saw, or a drill press, or the ability to source brass rod locally. Instead I used a circular saw and tried to cut a tiny bridle joint with a hand saw. Let's just say it's been a learning experience 😂 I'll have to have another crack at it soon and follow your method a bit more closely.
