Don't get me wrong, as a parent I feel for the mothers and the situation they've found themselves in. On the other hand, I am struggling to feel sorry for any Russian person caught up in this atm. The Russian army rolled across the Ukrainian border, uninvited, and began a killing spree and the Russian people are just sitting on their hands and letting their President get away with it.

Putin learned from Afghanistan. When Russia was in Afghanistan, they had to withdraw for 2 reasons. 1. The mother's of dead soldiers protesting. 2. Most of the dead soldiers were from the Moscow region. In this war, Putin does not bring back the bodies, so they are classified as missing instead of dead, and the majority of troops sent are not the Moscow area units. The dead bodies that are being returned are from small villages in the far east of Russia.

I said this in February already, that the Russian mothers would decide how long this goes on. Ukraine statistics are pretty good so somewhere out there are about 40 000 wives mothers and girlfriends wondering where Ivan is and that does not even count the wounded.
