Fun Fact: Trotsky is not Russian. He is Ukrainian, he was born in Ukraine.

Trotsky would never took the power, he was useless in inner party struggles. Couldn't find allies, couldn't creat working party blocks. He was howevewer extremely popular in the military. It is way more interesting what would happen if Sverdlov didn't die. Cause he was a genius organizer and second man in the party after Lenin ( who was actually largely detached from a lot day to day operstions). However, if Trotsky did somehow take the power, USSR would be just as authoritarian (he actually supported harsh dealings with enemies of revolution) and WW2 would start much sooner, cause Trotsky wanted to expand revolution as fast as it possible. Stalins and Trotsky's economic plans were also identical.

Trotsky was actually more authorial than Stalin, there is a reason Trotsky was called "Communism truest believer" and was disliked by other party members such as Stalin

Yeah you may need to re-study Trotsky. He wasn't democratic as you seem to believe.
