Anyone familiar with Howie Mandel via his tenure on shows such as America’s Got Talent will be well aware of the fact that the comedian has a phobia of germs. The origin of this phobia can be traced back to a traumatic incident from his childhood days involving a sandfly. Howie also had a hard time paying attention in school on account of his ADHD, though his propensity for making his peers laugh would come in handy once he became a comedian.

Howie Mandel had to overcome a lot of issues to make his mark in the entertainment industry, and he still struggles with these issues today. In fact, these issues only seem to be getting worse, and it might be that Howie is becoming less and less interested in being in the public spotlight as a result. Join Facts Verse as we take a look at how the tragedy of Howie Mandel just keeps getting worse.

On his AGT gig he's always struck me as a guy with a BIG heart and easily affected by an emotional performance....I have much respect for him and wish him well in all he does.

I loved him years ago and still think he’s one funny man. Sorry to hear of his fears. My prayers go out to you Howie.

Howie Mandel is one of the sweetest, kindest judges on AGT. A very compassionate man and I love his opinions of the contestants even if he is going to say no. I especially loved the show where he was hypnotized and was touched and he touched everyone with no problem.

It's actually not a tragedy. Just a story of a man who had some serious problems, like the rest of humanity, but who, through talent, grit, and hard work, still managed to find success in other areas of life. If anything, his life story is inspiring (specially for those with similar conditions or issues), not tragic.

Had a similar worm in my body while in the USMC! Very uncomfortable and memorable, stay well Howie. God bless!

Think Howie comes over as adorable and you'd never guess he has had to overcome health problems. He is an absolute asset to the show. Long live Howie!

The persona I loved the most was his "Bobby" routine during his early stand-up comedy days. It still makes me laugh when I think about the act.

My daughter deals with OCD and am eating disorder, so I know how much the mind can affect your life. I’m proud of her with all the steps she has taken to fight back to a normal life. I’m proud of Howie, too. He’s managed his career despite his fear of germs.
I first heard of Howie a little late - when he was a judge on AGT.m, and I love how kind he is!

I relate to him, it's difficult but training myself to control my thoughts is helpful.

I love Howie & can certainly understand how he might feel with the medical experiences he has had. I’d freak out too! I was blessed to see Howie as a stand up comic in Florida several years ago. Unfortunately his act was but short due to an unruly patron. & then COVID! I am extra cautious myself. Best of luck Howie. Keep the faith & may God bless you & yours💕

There isn't anything about Howie that I dislike. I completely love him through and through. His ailments do not define his ability to keep us laughing in stitches. I can only pray that his heath issues go away. Right now and moving forward. I love you Howie.

... Years ago I was in the audience of one his show and he pointed out I was swatting down in the isle so people behind me could see the stage ... He suggested I was at the buffet and needed to go to the restroom ... One phrase led to another to the point he was insulting me ...
... I gave him the finger salute and left the theater to talk to the management ...

My doctor told me having a fear of germs in today's world is a good thing because I know someone in my family who has it and they won't even pump gas without gloves on. Howie seems to have a pretty good life to me and if having sand flies under his skin for a brief period of time and his entire life is the worst thing he's gone through then he is a very blessed man. He seems like a very happy and good guy. We all have our phobias to deal with in this life. Not having to worry about money would be awesome. I always loved Howie. ❤️

I saw Howie in the late 80's in San Antonio with my first wife. He was very funny but marriage did not last. Life goes on. God Bless

Howie Mandel played a young man having been raised by wolves in Walk Like a Man with Christopher Lloyd portraying his older annoyed brother.
