In case you are wondering WHY the suit melted his flesh, here’s a basic explanation: the suit has a healing protocol made to find damage and weakness and heal it. The suit eventually decided that human skin is entirely a weakness, so it starter to replace it with metal skin. Eventually, it dug wires onto Tony’s brain and controlled him like a parasite

I think that a horror movie around Iron Man's armour being conscious would have had very great potential

He really took the "I'm nothing without the suit" personally

Iron Man writers must have a thing for this kind of stories. it reminds me of the whole Extremis virus thing. instead of directly augmenting someone, it rewrites the way the body can heal, while simultaneously changing the plans for healing the body, causing the state it's in to be considered one giant wound - that it then starts to "heal", with its enhanced capabilities, and eventually turns you into what it considers your "correct"/"healthy" state, someone augmented with Extremis

TBH, I feel like if Marvel marketed it well and made it stylistically distinct with different actors and frame it as just a separate universe, slapping the "Darkhold" label on them, they could REALLY do well for themselves if they made Marvel horror movies that didn't tie into the overall Marvel lore and could just be enjoyed as one offs. (since them being horror and maybe R rated or at least unsettling would make them non required viewing for big tentpole events lore wise.)

Would love to see this get adapted, and they could use this separate series to fulfill fan casting wishes at the same time (like have Tom Cruise for this version of Iron Man)

This story is deeply terrifying on so many levels. Not only for the body horror, but also because of the mentality of Tony. The fact that he thinks the monstrosity he's becoming is a _good_ thing and strives to make everyone else the same. It's the same reason why the Cybermen from Doctor Who are so horrifying, except this is even worse since, while the Cybermen are surgically created, these suit monsters are a gradual merging process.

Not gonna lie, that was pretty creepy and if there are any other Marvel: Darkhold comics, I’d love to see you cover them!

I'm starting to think the moral of the story here, is that Tony needs to be watched much closer

It's such a heartwarming story, an arms manufacturer and billionaire decides to do something useful by creating a machine interface that fights diseases and the ailments of flesh. We need more upbeat stories like this.

Springtrap, the man in the suit, and this iron man all in a 1v1v1

The fact they left the fluids white made this less uncomfortable than i thought it would, but made it way weirder in the process.

The whole snatching others to convert reminds me of the cyborgs from Doctor Who. Don't remember their names, but its the bipedal ones that are all gray with an antenna. Saw them as lame and no where near as horrifying as the other usual enemies of the doctor, til they showed how their mass production was made

You’re in two sides:

“That’s horrifying!”

“Man got nut all over his suit.”

Tony went from "I want to be a hero and save the little guy" to "From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine." Real quick

Back in the fifties, this would've ended with Iron Man revealing it had all just been a big practical joke on Pepper.

He realized the weakness in his flesh and it digusted him. After that he craved the strength and certainty of steel.

I really like when Iron Man said "Its Fleshing Time" and starts fleshing out of everyone.

I’d fucking love to see this turned into a What If…? episode. Like “What If Tony Stark could never remove the suit?” or “What If The Iron Man took control?” Or something like that. Would just love to see this brought more into the limelight and get to show off the gruesome visuals in animation.

Steve: Put on the suit, what are you?

Tony: A blob of flesh.

Steve: What?

Tony: Nothing Stripes, just a weird dream I had.

This alternate reality of ironman seems to be a great representation of tony's unrealistic dependencies on his suit and how all too often his obsession over his technology advances of the suit can and will eventually lead to horrific mishaps, case in point when he developed the nano tech for the suit based off of venom's symbiot race and it drove not just him but most of the human race to insanity.
