The backlash after 'Blackfish'

CNN Films 'Blackfish' explored the way Marine Parks care for killer whales. CNN's Martin Saivdge has more on the impact.

It's funny how Sea World called Blackfish "one sided" when they themselves denied to be interviewed in the film.

Blackfish didn't even mention (that I can recall) anything about all the noise at parks like SeaWorld. Orcas and dolphins are acoustic animals and they have such sensitive hearing. The every day shows and thousands of people cheering must be awful. Not to mention concerts! That alone is messed up.

Whether or not the trainers care about the animals, (I'm sure they love the orcas) taking animals from the wild as if we own them and then forcing them to live in tiny enclosures and do our tricks is twisted. If someone stole a child from their mother, kept them in a room that they couldn't leave and forced them to do this there would be no question of wrong-doing. Yet we do this to highly intelligent, large mammals that are very similar to humans in their emotional capacity. How is this right?

Even if Blackfish didn't tell the truth about Tilikum and how he was involved in the deaths of THREE different people, and SeaWorlds involvement in TWO of them, common knowledge should tell you that it is more than cruel to keep whales in capitivity. Those whales are some of the biggest animals on the planet, with all of the planet's oceans to swim around in and explore. Putting those animals in, in comparison, TINY pools and making them perform tricks, is just ridiculous and inhumane. Especially if you consider the intelligence and social needs these animals have. Even if Blackfish was never made, and Tilikum would have never acted out, SeaWorld would still be an organisation that should not be supported in any way, shape or form.

Another whale has died last month due to health complications. She was one of Tilikum's daughters Her name was Unna. Rest in peace Unna, you are free now.

I love how Seaworld's saying that Blackfish is all a lie and yet they're the ones who doesn't want to be interviewed...if you want people to believe you then defend yourself. Seaworld is really suspicious...

From pulling the trainers under water for a long period of time to killing trainers at Seaworld, these beautiful animals are sending a message to set them free or more of this will come until something is done.Being separated from ur family for ur entire life until u die is heart breaking. Let me tell u something Seaworld what if u were taken as a baby and sold to slavery? Wouldn't u be heart broken or are u not feeling it yet? this is what happens when u put animals in a cage. When u cage the beast, the beast gets angry. Set them free & all other water creatures.

i remember being a little girl excited to see the orcas at seaworld...
my parents bought me an orca stuffed animal that i still have with me now
we gave money to an institution that was abusing and capturing creatures so that we would empty our pockets
i only wish these deeds were documented at the start so i wouldn't have been a positive reciprocator of this awful exploitation
