Can you use carpet cleaners to extract water or do you need this machine ?

For a rainwater flood (not sewage), does any padding under the carpet need to be removed? Thx.

With that tool still necessary to lift carpet Dry and replace the pad? or its just a 2 step extraction and clean carpet with drying fans after clean ?
