When matching fonts, I always type out the original words, so I can do an apples-to-apples comparison. Then when I find a close match, I retype to whatever new content I need. Typing the final content and then matching works only if you want an impressionistic match. If you're trying to get as close as possible, type out the original words first and match from there.

Nice video Aaron. It should be called "Approximate Font Match" though. There are subtle differences between the font you found and what I am imagining was a custom manual font in the original. Still very cool though.

I had no idea there was a way to search in PS to match a font style. This is perfect. I used it today right after watching your video. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you from Virginia Beach VA.

Thank you! I have an immediate application for just this sort of thing. In the past, it's taken forever to use the clone tool for stuff like the texture and it was never even close to perfect. This is terrific!

If you want to take it even further. Filter>Distort>Wave gives you that very subtle displaced look that the original font had.

Why not also use the generative fill on the texture layer?

Some great ideas here! You would think that with Adobe adopting so much AI, that they could simply add a command that's called 'Duplicate Texture' so that this process takes a fraction of a second to execute. So many opportunities to use AI to reduce the time required to achieve the results you want.
Thanks Aaron: by the way, can you delete any of those fonts that are standard in PS? A good way to reduce the length of the list when you know you wont use some fonts.

Is it possible to just grab the texture and put it on a new layer to fill the new layer???

Although I appreciate the thechnic used in the video, this is not a match font. The font you chose was similar not the same as the original, it's obvious if l pay attention to the A in lower case in the word breakfast. In the end you ended up replacing the whole text with a new font instead of matching the original.
If this document were something you should do for a client, and the fonts had to match in different documents then you'd have to change all of them, which is ineffective unless the client had supplied the original font. In that case this method wouldn't make sense because you would have installed the original font and then done the changes in the text.
