Even with making Inside Out 2 “less gay” people were still complaining on Twitter or online about how Val being in the movie was a big giveaway about IO2 being “woke nonsense”. IMO, I liked the movie a lot, never got to interpret Val & Riley’s relationship as gay since well it’s a big age gap from a senior to a freshman

Here's my problem - a movie about growing up and having certain emotions become much more prevalent is a great reflection of what ordinary teenagers have to go through. However, it's also the age where same sex attractions are usually discovered - and it would have made sense if it was mentioned. Yeah, Riley definitely likes men - I mean, the 'boyfriend machine?' But like, being bi exists. Also, obligatory reference to how her emotions are two different genders in her body whereas everyone else has their unisex genders.

A show about growing up and experiencing things that are completely new having some sexuality discussion would make sense, and might've been a good message. HOWEVER the movie was still great without it!

Well they failed pretty badly then. A HUGE amount of people interpret Riley as having a massive crush on Val. Ya can't have a girl fawning over another girl without it being at least a little gay

it’s just a business thing. there are more people who refuse to watch movies with gay themes than people who watch a movie FOR its gay themes. the addition of gay people can hurt a movie more than it helps it.
i don’t personally think it’s a good reason, because either way they’ll get their bag if it’s well-written and they won’t if it’s just bad, but even so, it’s still a profit thing.

edit: i wanna make it clear that i am in no way against LGBT. i am a vocal supporter. i understand that the fact that these movies get banned and people refuse to watch them is a bad thing, but i also understand that this is just the way it is.
