Big fan of the "narcotic goth fueled anime girls" in the description

I feel like this song ended my depression, but then gave me another one.

If you guys like this, you're not going to regret looking into darkwave and maybe other post-punk and goth subgenres.
A lot of artists are just as synth heavy too, which I guess most of you are here for.

Real talk first: I love every part of this song. It's such a relentless mix of sad and energetic like... staring into the night while leaning against the railing on the outdoor part of a train's passenger car while you're traveling through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and idly holding onto your mask from the masquerade party happening back in the car, taking a moment to mourn before returning to the revel with your face covered, hoping a specific person inside will come out so you can talk to them, the both of you being honest with each other. If this is your new artistic direction I'm so hyped. If this isn't your new direction, I'm still hyped because you're demonstrating such a great breadth of style that I'm confident I'll like wherever you lead.

Silly anecdote: When I first listened to this it was on a walk so I couldn't see the lyrics and my brain insisted on hearing "this one is pessimistic" as "girls want a spicy mystic."

I was in a coma when you released this last year. I woke up and began listening to it in August, not realizing you'd just released it two weeks prior. Very catching, pretty vocalist. It became my favorite along with Plastic Love which I'd listened to at my job before. They kept me happy when I was broken and barely coherent in an unfamiliar place. Music like this played a big role in my mental health as I recovered, thanks boss.

I love that you're evolving your sound over time. I love how you've blended synthwave, with indie - it works really well. I love it! 😍

I loved your anime synthwave covers, but I'm very glad that you have decided to release original music and carve your own path. This is great stuff, I've never heard anything quite like it.

For some reason what comes to mind, I wonder if this is why people like (heavy) metal music. It's not quite hypnotic, nor does it bombard or try to beat the mind into submission. It is just saturated and unyielding, omnipresent. It puts you into another space and splits you into pieces, leaving the pieces to just watch. Nullifies inner resistance. Reminds me of part of the song "Future Age" by "Still corners". At the the line "Swim in the sea of love, and fly with a white dove. Don't drown, you're almost there." At the word "there" it almost sounds like there is an underlying but very clear shadow that is also saying "dead", and the tone of the vocal itself is descending and fading. The higher pitched background tone also drops down a bit, as it becomes the focus. There are a lot of subtle life and death symbols throughout. This has some similarities but is more layered and self directed, like it doesn't truly need you, all internal feedback loops. It's not speaking at you however, nor strictly to itself through you... easy to visualize, hard to describe. I like this style a lot.

Had this and Lobotomy on repeat for a while. There is a moment you (re)realize, alone, alone! You were always alone! Then it fades. Certainly a twisted play in gray. Like the live version too. Manifesto as well.

I know that this is a lot to read, but just hear me out— I’m so grateful this exists. This song is so unusually relatable. I don’t know if this is just my perception or more of what this song was being leaned towards, but the need to have things you’ve always wished for but (even to a degree) never got/“living the life you’ve never had”/“hold me”/“think somebody ever cared”, the label of being “pessimistic” (and becoming somewhat pessimistic from being labeled it), the inability to accept pain (in general or from the past, either from fear, or the unusual experiences when trying to accept, or both), the perfectionist goals you make to feel worthy inside... feel motivated (which I call “survive & strive”, because of my tendency to obsess over any problems that may happen or are happening to me, and over-monitor my health), and to give yourself credit... Trying to manipulate, “lie”(sometimes without knowing, because of an awkward uncomfortableness and pattern of self behaviors that you’ve learned), and “fake laugh” until it feels like a real laugh... in conversations to keep yourself feel safe, even if it’s just perceived, and keep the pain hidden because you fear it and what it will make you do— when you’re really just unintentionally developing harmful behaviors, ... and of course, the loneliness that eats away at your core. There’s so much to this song and so much more (with the complications of explaining all of it, another relatable thing). This song makes me feel relief because I feel understood— even if it’s only to a degree because I’m so scared of the uncomfortable when it’s unexpected.

Just... thank you. Thank you both for singing and making this. Even if this is just a small/hard-to-notice feeling of relief, it still made my day. Thank you.

Keep doing what you are doing. You are the best in synthwave.

This is genuinely such a banger in terms of how much it slaps and how hard it hits, actually amazing. This song also reminds me too well of one of my closest friends. Astrophysics are so underrated and deserve so much more love and recognition for the amazing music they put out. Keep up the great work!

Ok. I know the lyrics aren't about that *BUT-*
This songs instrumental really reminds me of when you're done with a mental breakdown, and even though you still have a pessimistic look on things, you decide that this is not where it ends.
Don't know why, I just automatically thought of that.

lyrics

what is that one thing that drives you?
what that one thing that makes you shine?
you can't make this up (x10)

the best you can
is not enough
the best you can
is not enough

this one is pessimistic (x4)

you wanna live a life you've never had
you're gonna fake a laugh and lie your way ahead
you're saying pretty words to hide your face
your broken notion only leads to vicious ways

this one is pessimistic (x8)

* inaudible *

you gonna share your sad stories with your firends
You wanna think somebody one day ever cared
_hold me!_ _hold me!_
You say it alone
alone
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*
_hold me!_ _hold me!_
You say it alone
alone
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*
you were always alone
alone
*a l o n e*

Very good music. It's calming to listen to and upbeat at the same time.
