Cicely Saunders Institute Seminar by Professor Maria Ekstrand, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, University of California, San Francisco

In this seminar, Professor Maria Ekstrand will discuss her decade-long research programme in India, drawing on data from her studies of HIV-infected populations and highlighting the role that HIV stigma plays in both research and AIDS-related prevention programmes.

Professor Ekstrand will also examine the implications of these findings for intervention programs in Indian health care settings, and explore how this line of research can be extended to Palliative care and pain management.

The seminars aim to facilitate and optimise opportunities for local, national and international networking within palliative care and rehabilitation in order to improve practice, education and policy and the integration of research and clinical endeavours.
