Does Anyone Write Original Songs Anymore? Are Song Clips The Future of Music? Are Albums Obsolete?
Why are musicians more concerned about copying other musicians music than creating their own original music. Are music albums a thing of the past? Is playing music about being liked and praised, rather than being explorative? The current music streaming content platforms, has dumb-downed the average listener. They are spoon fed incremental does of thoughtless, soulless music, and except it as the normal faire of the day. There is no effort on the listeners part to gain access to real music. It's, incumbent upon musicians and artists to create and deliver original music and art to the masses. So they at least have another option if they so choose to seek it out.

I found an artist from the UK called Harriet. She loves 70's music and does a lot of covers of Carpenters and other 70's songs, BUT she also writes her own music. Her voice sounds very similar to Karen Carpenter. I also found The Heavy Heavy-Happiness and they sound like a retro 60's cross between Mama' and the Papas and Jefferson Airplane. I was so excited to find some music I could enjoy again.

Yes. I do write and lay down ideas. I think playing in a band makes it come to life.

At sixty five, as a retired HVAC mechanic, I worked all those years, collecting gear, writing songs, improving my guitar and bass approach - toward this time, when I could recoup my vitality, and then go full time into writing, performing, and recording original music. But now I am stuck. All the motivations that kept my heart alive to pursue this goal - seem to have evaporated. I lived in Nashville for sixteen years, working second shift, on my days off I went out to Jams - meeting musicians, and going to private studios. Everybody in them was un inspired, un motivated, and poverty stricken, oh yes - and Drug addled. no body was buying CDs, and I refused to stream Spotify - but what really stuck in my craw - was how pro tools ( modern recording) fatally affected the music. I would rather hear a swinging live trio, than a synthetic - multi track recording with too many bells, and whistles, and shiny distractions.
