3:36 You saved the hardest for last 😅. I've been learning to make a trilled r (р), and I was thinking the next thing I need to learn is the difference between sounds like, for example, "ра" and "ря". I think it's even harder when it's at the end of the word, because in English the palatalization thing usually happens right before a vowel, often [u], as in the word ⟨mute⟩ [mjuːt] (which I guess is technically not exactly the same as made-up word "мют" [mʲut](?) but hopefully similar if the [j] is pronounced at about the same time as [m]).

I think minimal pairs are helpful for learning the sound differences, like ⟨moot⟩ [muːt] versus ⟨mute⟩ [mjuːt] in English—words that differ only by the sound distinction that is to be learned. (Well, those two are easy because they exist in English, but the hard-soft phonemic distinctions that exist in Russian but not English are more difficult.) I plan to search the Internet for minimal pairs for all the Russian hard and soft consonants (if such example pairs exist).

Thanks for the video 😁

This is the most difficult aspect of Russian in my opinion. Thanks for making this video.

This is he first time I have come across the use of English hard and soft (even though or especially because we don't think about it) consonants. I've had to learn this on my own, but when I explained it to my brother and his fiance (who is a kandidat nauk of English as a Second Language and is a native Russian, seriously a PhD in ESL and Russian from freakn' Moscow!) they fell down and cried for several minutes. Thank you and many accolades for your insight.
