We shouldn't just be talking about financial losses. We should also be talking about what's gained when we stay home with our children.
I stay at home with my daughter and I also write books.
Not going to the typical job doesn't necessarily mean work stops...

I suppose the question to ask is, "How important is money to you?" I love my children.

Makes sense… Even if you are just working for the health insurance, or pension benefits… It's still worth working, even if all your salary is going towards child care. I do not regret staying home with my babies for five years… But this gives some perspective to staying the workplace.
