Cool spyrogyra fact for you! There's a great jazz band named after the algae, they're called Spyro Gyro!

Isn't it interesting that Spirogyra/Spiro Gyra are also the names of two *separate* musical groups in the early 70's?

One was Spirogyra, a British Folk Rock/Prog band and the other had the same name but it was spelled as two words, Spiro Gyra, an American jazz-fusion group of roughly the same era.

Obviously there was at least *one* studied brain inside each group, but it is doubtful that either band was aware of the other, making copyright infringement rather unlikely
