When the director keeps the same leads for the past 4 years and they always play basically the same character

NOT THE BIASED CASTING THO-
LIKE MY DIRECTOR HAS PICKED THE SAME KIDS TO BE THE MAIN ROLES FOR THE LAST 6+ YAERS 😭✋

I experienced that kid, it was a production of the little mermaid, he was supposed to be a sailor on Eric's ship he stole and used half of the mermaids' sparkly make up. He was super arrogant for someone who had never done theatre before and half way through opening night when he was told to be ready for his next scene, he asked what the difference between a scene and an act. It was the worst

I definitely understand the biased casting director. I did multiple shows at a theater where the casting director/ overall director always casted her son as the lead. Sometimes he was perfect for the role but most of the time the role was out of his vocal range and dance capability.

I’ve been stage acting since I was four and yeah I understand everything you’ve said to a T, Theatre is fun until that one cast member screws up some things during tech week and…ugh I just get so annoyed whenever it happens

Ok I love theatre chaos and being busy with it, tech week is the greatest thing ever, I just, ya know, don’t sleep 👍

The biased casting is so real tho omg

When I was younger (6-11) I was in a musical theatre thing and the directors niece was in it too so she got ALL the main roles, then I quit when I was 12 ish, and I've been trying to find another company for years but they're so expensive ugh

We did the wizard of oz last fall and the co-director wanted to cast her son (HE WAS IN 5TH GRADE AT THE TIME!) as the tinman. The director got in a heated argument with them about it. End story: a senior got tinman and the kid got the coroner (which he was kinda bad at ngl)

GIRL THE BIASED DIRECTORS THING IS SO TRUE
There's this girl who does both assistant directing and acting so she can get literally whatever role she wants if she asks

Although when it’s biased in your favor…

Another thing for me as a beginner theater kid ( I am a youth theater kid, so I don’t get many opportunities to join plays ) is ALWAYS getting ensemble, like I have only got one actual role in a play and it was a school play that all the kids in my grade do

My old theater used to have this really creepy tech guy named chuck and he would judge everyone and stuff but anyways on tech week we would stay until 9 and he would follow everyone around and give everyone dirty looks we all hated him lmao
