LT literally blew his mind. He never talks bad about Brady. But his face lights up when asked about Lawrence Taylor.

Lawrence Taylor
So great, he made Bill Belichick smile once.
Once.

The reverence he has for this man is undeniable.

Usually Bill gives quick answers but you can tell how much he loves LT that he actually continued. Even as a lifelong Cowboys fan I loved LT! He is on the Mount Rushmore of football and definitely the greatest defensive player ever!

Lawrence Taylor was the greatest football player I ever saw play.

Lawrence Taylor is by far, the best NFL player of all time. He was Superman

Bill Belichek is the epitome of guarded, stoic expression!
However, as anyone can plainly see. He’s doing everything that he can to stifle the grin that most proud parents have when they’re talking about the accomplishments of their children! You can see that he was amazed by Lawrence’s abilities and was honored to be a part of his development and growth!

In 1981, LT became the first player ever named DPOY and ROTY in the same season

In 1986, he became the first and only OLB ever named Most Valuable Player

LT was the best overall football player of all time regardless of position.

I feel like when he reminisces about LT it brings him back to the time when he was a young coach who was hungry to learn and really just wanted to make an impact in the sport. We all have those warm memories when we were younger that just put a twinkle in our eyes and put a smile on it faces. That’s exactly what happens when he thinks about his time with LT.

LT was the once in a lifetime talent, and if you drafted him, the impact on your team was immediate and noticeable, elevating the play out of necessity, of everyone else on the team. He was not only more gifted athletically than virtually everyone playing that I saw, except perhaps a Bo Jackson, but his foot ball IQ and acumen were unparalleled, comparable to that of Mike Singeltary, another brilliant defensive football mind. When you get Bill Belichick to respond with more than a cursory yes, no, or another mono-syllabic retort to any question you know that subject holds a special place in his heart and memories. There have been other excellent defensive players, but really nobody that revolutionized a position, changed the way the game was actually played and caused every opposing offensive player and coordinator to lose sleep trying to think of ways to either slow down or survive the encounter with LT and his Giants.

LT came in as a rookie as the best defensive player in the NFL. Nobody has done that before and since.

You can see how explosively excited Belichick is. Can’t contain himself.

This is Belichick's version of being giddy and its always when he talks about Lawrence Taylor and its for good reason. LT was the man.

LT must have been even better than we think. We only got to see him dominate once a week. He saw it every day in practice too.

LT was explosive, passionate and had great instincts. Bobby Knight said Larry Bird had better court awareness than anyone else. Taylor had that on the football field.
