River Raid is a classic scrolling shooter video game designed by Carol Shaw and published by Activision in 1982. Originally released for the Atari 2600, it became immensely popular, with over a million game cartridges sold. In River Raid, players control a fighter jet flying over the treacherous River of No Return, engaging in daring raids behind enemy lines. The game features procedurally generated terrain, challenging obstacles, and fuel management mechanics.
Activision later ported River Raid to the Atari 5200, ColecoVision, and Intellivision game consoles, as well as to the Commodore 64, IBM PCjr, MSX, ZX Spectrum, and Atari 8-bit family home computers. If you’re a fan of retro gaming, this one’s a must-play!
