Rain washed away a thousand years of history in Peru. Witnesses could only watch helplessly as a pre-Incan fortress wall collapsed before their eyes. Researchers believe it was built between the 10th and 12th centuries.

It wasn’t heavy rains that caused the wall to fall. It was a lack of trees and shrubs whose roots hold the ground together in heavy rains. If modern people didn’t decimate the landscape it would still be standing
