Pig Butchering Scam for Crypto, Explained
Показать описание
The pig butchering crypto scam is a very specific kind of scam. Here’s how it works.
In a pig butchering scam involving crypto, this is what happens. Let’s say someone reaches out to you online or you reach out to them. You become friends with them or perhaps it’s more of a love connection that you made on a dating site. Things are going well and you are chatting a lot over the course of hours, days, weeks, and even months. You’ve stuck up a great online friendship or maybe someone has convinced you that you might be falling in love with them.
Then one day, the pig butchering scam hits its key moment, when the person you’ve been talking to for so long tells you about an interesting crypto investment opportunity. They claim it’s been great for them. Maybe they show you supposed evidence that they’ve made money. They ask you to visit a website and really recommend it. You go to the website and decide to invest money. Let’s say $10,000, for example. You hit submit.
The pig butchering scam is complete. You were fattened up, much like a pig. Instead of food, they made you trust them. You believed them. You were fattened up with the belief that everything was going great. And then bam, they butchered you by getting you to send the $10,000 or whatever other dollar amount… and that website they told you to visit… they own it. You aren’t investing in crypto. You sent them money for free, and you’ll likely never hear from them ever again.
The pig butchering scam is brutal to those who have fallen victim to it. Not only did you lose a lot of money, but your mind is screwed up after believing for so long that you were talking to legitimate people who were trustworthy.
Please share this video with any members of your family or friends who might be particularly vulnerable to falling for the pig butchering crypto scam, especially older people. Share the link to my video with them.
Stay safe and be very, very cautious of cryptocurrency investment offers. Many of them are big scams.
