Keane Reeves has said Constantine is the one character he would like to play again.

Keanu has been in a LOT of bangers over the years, but Constantine will always be my favorite

I never interpreted it as Lucifer denying Constantine's entry into heaven specifically - I believe he was dying/had died and WOULD have gone to heaven due to his self-sacrifice, but Lucifer healed and/or resurrected him with a clean bill of health.

I adore this movie and had the chance to meet Tilda Swinton as I worked in a coffee shop not far from where she lived. As she paid at the till I said to her how much I loved her performance as Gabriel. Her grin was amazing as she said most people only knew her from the Lion Witch and the Wardrobe as the White Witch. We spent a few moments talking about Constantine and she said how much she loved the movie too.

7:15 I think god was the one that stripped Gabriel of his angelic powers and features. I don’t think the devil had that power in this movie, Gabriel full on believed he would have at least been able to harm Lucifer, which is why he went in for the punch but Lucifer said god doesn’t have his back anymore.

The fact that a simple liquor store clerk is a half bred angel is super interesting and cool

The quote on John’s lighter is actually “Let justice be done, though the heavens may fall.”.

Man, I absolutely cannot believe that this movie hit the theaters 17 years ago. Damn, I feel so old...

I particularly liked how the film didn't waste time spoonfeeding you with this explanations but it was enticing enough whether you're fan of the comic or not.
Thanks for covering all the grey areas and getting me excited for a potential sequel.

Peter Stormare was so great as Lucifer. The director really brought out the best of Keanu’s acting ability. I think the hate for it at the time was it was soon after the end of the Matrix trilogy and it was the same film company.

Constantine is what I call a perfect movie. It had great actors, action, good writing, and it made sense. Would love if Keanu reprised the role but not as a sequel.

The Prophecy (1995) with Christopher Walken is an amazing movie that I feel like was lost to time.
I'd love a breakdown / explanation about the Angels, their habits or even the lore, some of it was explained but most of it went over my head I'm sad to say.

Since keanu said he would like to return as Constantine there’s a good chance he might. Would be really cool to bring back Francis Lawrence because the original people that worked on this film clearly respected the work (even though some things were changed)

This is one of my all time favorites too! Wish they'd make that sequel they've been talking about. There's so much lore left to explore! I even loved the show that got canceled way too soon.

The visual in this film remains some of the best I have ever seen, while the FX where good on technical point its the creativity behind them that make them shine!

I'll bet the backlash was largely because of the differences between this movie and the source material. I always really liked this movie, but I also didn't know it was based on a comic until many years later. I think it would be nice to get a sequel to this movie and also get a more faithful Constantine movie that ties into the DCEU.

The Lucifer from this movie is based on the "First of the Fallen" character seen in the "Bad Habits" arc from Hellblazer. Originally he was supposed to be Lucifer, but at the time Neil Gaiman was writing Sandman, and in his stories Lucifer was a radically different character. So in order to avoid confusion they established that the two were different characters. The Lucifer from the Lucifer tv series is based on Neil Gaiman's version, Lucifer Morningstar.

I always took away that Chaz was always a half angel looking over John nudging him in the direction of his redemption; and that was what the "rat in a dress" symbolized at Club Midnight. The card two pigs on a bench also symbolized the importance of the twins that John had yet to encounter. Also that Gabriel was a part Gods plan for John.

I've never read the comic books but I did love this movie. I think the casting was pretty much on point.

As an aside on mirrors, the reason why vampires aren't supposed to be able to see their reflection in them was because they were backed with silver which is a "holy"metal. Wouldn't apply to modern day mirrors in the least.
