Charles Eisenstein is the author of several books, most recently "Sacred Economics" and "The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible". This is his plenary talk at the Economics of Happiness conference held in Portland, Oregon, in February 2015. The conference was organized by Local Futures, a non-profit organization that has been promoting a shift from global to local for nearly 40 years.

Beautiful talk, thank you. I am always perplexed as to why Charles's talks generally have very few views (compared with many of the billions of other ridiculous videos on the internet). Hopefully these can gain some momentum and interest among people

Sometimes I feel like Charles is the only sane person left, beside myself. Modern life is supposed to be so great. We have all this stuff, all this entertainment, and all this convenience. But so what? All those things are worthless. In the pursuit of those things, we've made a world that is ugly, disconnected, and meaningless.

I know there are more of us though. We just have to find each other.
