This song makes me cry but I can't stop listening to it. My younger brother has been in and out since he was 18. He is 43 now.. people see him as a screw up but he isn't. He has a very big heart and he does his best when he is home but just can't seem to make good choices when he is home and that kills me every time he tells me, SIS. THEY ARE SENDING ME BACK....what do you do when you see someone who KNOWS but finds himself always going back.. I practically raised him and with that being said maybe I should raised him better but I'm only 6 yrs older than him . Had to grow up fast just like alot of us so I feel sort of like his mom and not his sister and he thinks of me like his mom also.. I just feel like I failed him. Idk where I'm going with this long ass post. Just needed to let it out u guess bc not everyone will understand and I feel like someone on here just might... I will never give up on my brother tho. Just want to make that clear. I will always be the one who accepts and loves him no matter what..

I haven't listened to this much country in years!! But here I am with you on repeat!!
Thank you for this new refreshing music coming from the heart, and real life experiences!
I personally never did drugs or done time in jail or prison. But my dad did, I feel like I served that time too. My whole life I hated that his addiction got the best of him, for years I blamed myself for not being enough for him to want to be clean and stay out of prison.
My dad passed a couple years ago and he lived his whole life of drugs and prison.
Right after my dad got out of high school he got into some trouble with the law and was forced to choose prison time or serve this country.
He joined the US Army and was sent straight to Vietnam War. He came back after he went to Vietnam and my aunt said he was never the same after that. But he never talked about it, he just got caught up in drugs to numb the pain. He tried to get help from the Veteran's Association but they only let you do so much rehab and its expensive. He couldn't afford to pay out of pocket.
I am so happy for you that you changed your life. Not only for you, but for your boys too!
I am glad that you can be the dad they need you to be and more!

I can feel like emotion and regret in your voice, and it makes me feel like this is something my dad would be singing to me now. My Dad loved country music and I know he would have loved and felt your songs to the core.
