Only the River Flows trailer

The latest by the highly touted Chinese filmmaker Wei Shujun uses neo-noir tropes and a pitch black sense of humour to critique the culture of shame and secrecy prevalent in the country in the 90s. The film pits a detective on the edge (charismatic Yilong Zhu) against a serial killer terrorizing a small hamlet. The policeman is not only trying to outwit the murderer, but also must deal with uncooperative villagers, inept colleagues, and his own unraveling mind. Fans of Memories of Murder - look out for this!
