Instead of hiring 87, 000 new IRS employees, the Democrats should have treated carried interest income as ordinary compensation income, which it actually is. Such a change would raise an additional $20 billion a year for the IRS. Compared to the $20 billion over 10 years that the new audits on persons earning over $400, 000 a year. Without a carried interest loophole, most of those private equity and hedge fund executives will pay more taxes without the need for an audit. Or all those armed IRS agents. Also, kick Hochul out this November, Lee!
