13171 Sealdah - Agartala KANCHANJUNGHA EXPRESS with Malda ALCo WDM3D | Gorgeous Smoking & Chugging
Показать описание
13171 Sealdah - Agartala Kanchanjunga Express (bi-weekly) hauled by ALCo WDM3D 11474 of DLS Malda (NFR); captured at Tetelia, Assam.
The loco link of this train is as follows:
1. The train is hauled by an ALCo WDM3A from DLS Barddhaman (BWN), ER; from Sealdah to Malda Town
2. From Malda Town to Lumding, it is hauled by an ALCo WDM3A / WDM3D of DLS Malda (NFR).
3. The Hill Section starts from Lumding and it ends in Badarpur. Hence, the ALCo locomotive of DLS Malda is removed at Lumding Jn and high horse power locomotives are required for the train.
4. At Lumding Jn, the train also requires a reversal. So, the ALCo locomotive of DLS Malda leading the train upto here is removed. Either ALCo twin WDG3A locomotives of DLS New Guwahati (NGC) or DLS Kharagpur (KGP) are attached replacing the Malda ALCo. They become the bankers (to push the train uphill); and a new locomotive (usually an EMD locomotive) is attached to the end of the train, which actually becomes the lead loco as the train reserves its direction. Sometimes, both the lead and banker locomotives are EMD locomotives, depending on the availability of locomotives in the section.
5. From Lumding to Badarpur, i.e. in the entire hill section the EMD locomotive will lead the train and the twin NGC/KGP ALCo WDG3A locos will serve as the bankers.
6. At Badarpur, the twin NGC/KGP ALCo WDG3A locos (bankers) are removed from behind and the EMD locomotive attached at Lumding leads the train upto Agartala.
7. In majority times, the EMD locomotives working in the hill section are from DLS New Guwahati and DLS Siliguri. NGC EMD WDG4D locomotives are becoming the main work horse of the hill section.
